2 Tennessee basketball players likely to return to Knoxville after this week’s news
Last month, three Tennessee Vols basketball players announced plans to enter the 2022 NBA draft.
Guards Kennedy Chandler, Santiago Vescovi and Josiah-Jordan James each entered the draft.
Chandler will be a first-round pick. His stay in Tennessee is over.
The expectation for Vescovi and James, however, was that they would return to UT next season. Vescovi and James are probably going through the draft process just to get feedback, which is a good thing.
This week has provided news that makes it look like Vescovi and James will be back in Knoxville next season.
According to CBS Sports’ Jon RothsteinVescovi and James did not receive NBA draft invites.

Chandler, as expected, got an invite to the combine.
As for Vescovi and James, I didn’t think they would leave Tennessee. But I expected the two to get an invite to the combine. Both were key players for the Vols last season and they both have the potential to make an NBA roster and play in an off-the-bench type role.
Although it is unfortunate for Vescovi and James that they cannot experience the combine (which takes place next week, then the deadline for removing a player’s name from the draft is the 1st June), it’s good news for Tennessee that both players will almost certainly return for another season on Rocky Top.
