NBA rumours: Warriors’ Juan Toscano-Anderson to take part in slam dunk contest

Juan Toscano-Anderson will take his talents to Cleveland during All-Star Weekend.

The Warriors forward will participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday, citing sources.

This will be Toscano-Anderson’s first appearance in the contest. According to Charania, he will face Houston Rockets rookie Jalen Green, Orlando Magic guard Cole Anthony and Knicks forward Obi Toppin.

Known as an explosive in-game dunker, JTA had arguably the highlight of the season when he posterized Phoenix Suns center JaVale McGee on Dec. 3.

Toscano-Anderson even had McGee sign the poster a few weeks after the game.

Years ago, JTA won a bid in FIBA’s “Dunk of the Decade” category for that comeback slam while representing Mexico in international play in 2016.

Toscano-Anderson will be joined at All-Star Weekend by teammates Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins, who were both named All-Star starters.

It’s possible that Draymond Green will join the festivities as a reserve, and Klay Thompson could also be invited to participate in the 3-point contest.
