Where are the 2014 Florida basketball players now?
The 2013-14 Gator basketball team was probably Gainesville’s best team since back-to-back titles in 2006-07. They won the SEC Tournament and earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
While they failed to Shabazz Napier and UCONN, the eventual champions, it was still one of the best UF basketball teams of all time.
So what happened to the guys on this team?
Scottie Wilbekin – PG #5
Wilbekin was the leader of this Final Four team. He was named SEC Player of the Year and made the All-SEC First Team in 2014.
He then signed with the Greek club AEKwhere he played 9 games and scored 8 points while delivering 4 assists.
Wilbekin made the NBA roster in 2015, when he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers and signed a 4-year contract, but was waived after playing 5 preseason games.
Michel Frazier II – SG #20
Michael Frazier II was the best shooter on this Gators team, and he set the school record for 3 in a game with 11 in a contest against South Carolina.
Frazier has made many saves during his pro career. He went undrafted in the 2015 draft and signed with the Golden State Warriors for the 2015 summer league. He later signed with the Lakers but was waived after 4 preseason games.
Frazier is now playing for the Perth Wildcatsan Australian team that plays in the NBL.
Patrick Young – C #4
Patric Young was the fiery big man on this Gators team. He won SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 and was 2nd Team All SEC that same year.
After being drafted in 2014, he joined the New Orleans Pelicans for the summer league and signed with them professionally, but was waived before appearing in a game.
At the end of 2014, he signed with Galatasaray SK of the Turkish Basketball Super League, where he averaged 10.5 points and 8 rebounds per game.
He returned to America in 2015 when he signed with the Phoenix Suns for the 2015 Summer League but was waived and signed with the Greek side. Olympiacos this month of July.
In 2020, he signs with Hapoel Gilboa Galilan Israeli Premier League basketball team, but left the team in October 2020 for personal reasons and has not played professionally since.
Will Yeguete – F #15
Yeguete was one of the more experienced guys on the Final Four team, having competed in an Elite Eight the previous three years.
He was undrafted in 2014 and went to play for STB Le Havrea team from the Pro B Division of the LNB.
The following year he played for another French club Pau Orthezin the Pro A division, where he won the Pro A Most Improved Player award.
The following season, he was part of Le Mans SBa French League team, where he played for 3 seasons.
Now he is a member of AS Monacowhere he won a EuroCup championship in 2021.
Casey Prather – SF #24
Prather was the final key member of the 2014 Gators rotation. He was named to the First Team All-SEC in 2014.
He was undrafted in 2014 and played for Bakersfield Jam, an NBA G-League team in Detroit. After a year there, he became an international and played for the Perth Wildcats for 2 years, where he won an NBL championship.
He then spent a year at Promitheas Patrasa Greek side, before returning to Melbourne United in 2019.
Now he plays for Hapoel Eilatan Israeli team where he won the title of Israeli League MVP in 2021.
