Aizawl Legends will be part of the BFI, the FIBA-backed 3×3 Pro Basketball League

New Delhi: Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) backed by 3×3 Pro Basketball League (3BL) are returning for the third consecutive season. The season should start in Chandigarh from the 5and March with the finals scheduled for 21st March 2022.

The announcement was made on Friday by Mr. Rohit Bakshi, Commissioner 3BL and Ms. Prerna Sharma, Director, 3BL. Also present at the event was the Secretary General of the BFI, Mr. Chander Mukhi Sharma, along with the best participating Indian and foreign players. Mr. Vikas Bansal and Mr. Rajeev Tiwari, the owners of the Gurugram Masters franchise, which is the reigning champion of the men’s league, were also present.

“We are pleased to grant exclusive rights to 3BL’s professional league as another way for our star players to shine,” said Mr. Chander Mukhi Sharma. “3BL will provide additional revenue and exposure to many Indian basketball athletes.”

“We strongly believe that India will be at the Paris Olympics in 2024. At the end of 3BL Season 3, the FIBA ​​​​​​3×3 World Ranking of Indianteams should be at least 30andof the current 70and (in men) and 55and (in women). This will give India a boost that we have all been waiting for,” Mr. Rohit Bakshi said.

Season 3 of 3BL will air live on Sony LIV, with additional weekly special programming airing on Sony Six.

Twelve men’s teams and six women’s teams compete in six rounds. Winners will be announced at the end of each round and the winner of the final round will be crowned the overall champion.

Besides attractive salaries, cash prizes and FIBA ​​3×3 ranking points for individual players, top teams also have the chance to participate in prestigious FIBA ​​3×3 World Tour events.

72 male players (out of 12 teams) and 36 female players (out of 6 teams) from all over India and abroad will participate.

Top Indian National Team Stars such as Raspreet Sidhu (Former Indian National Team Captain), Amjyot Singh Gill (Former NBA G-League Player), Vishesh Bhriguvanshi (Arjuna Awardee), Amritpal Singh (Former Captain from the Indian national team), Stephy Nixon, Palpreet Singh (ex-NBA G-League rookie), Aravind Annadurai, Jagdeep Singh Bains, Akilan Pari and Arvind Arumugam will be in action. Joining them will be 3×3 specialists from around the world, including Indian 3BL stars Inderbir Singh Gill and Bikramjit Gill.

Up-and-coming Indian talents Princepal Singh (former NBA G-League recruit), Sahaij Sekhon, Arvind Kumar and Sejin Mathew among others will make their professional 3×3 debuts.
