FIBA EuroBasket Tournament helps Arizona’s Kerr Kriisa

We’re still months away from Arizona Basketball’s 2022-23 season, but one player who may be on the verge of a big leap this season is Kerr Kriisa.

Over the past two months, we’ve seen quite a bit of turnover with Arizona’s basketball roster. As we all know, Tommy Lloyd and the Cats lost Bennedict Mathurin, Dalen Terry and Christian Koloko in the NBA draft.

Beyond that, Justin Kier graduated and Shane Nowell has since transferred from Arizona to UNLV. Well, luckily for us, Arizona got to work quickly adding several solid pieces for 2022-23, including Kylan Boswell, Courtney Ramey, Cedric Henderson Jr. and Henri Veesaar, among others.

The Wildcats are also returning a few crucial pieces for this upcoming season, namely Azuolas Tubelis, Pelle Larsson and Kerr Kriisa, notably among a few others.

While a few players are expected to emerge as leaders and key players in Arizona Basketball next season, one player who should take a big leap is Kerr Kriisa.

Coming to Tucson as a highly touted European player, Kerr showed glimpses of his first full season last year with the Wildcats, en route to becoming a key starter and contributor. And as we head into the 2022-23 season, Kriisa should see an increased role with the Wildcats.

However, like several other Wildcats this summer, Kerr has thankfully stayed busy preparing for the upcoming season.

Competing in the FIBA EuroBasket tournament for the past few weeks, Kerr has faced some of the best, including NBA superstar Luka Dončić, as well as former Wildcat Lauri Markkanen among several others.

Making a name for himself internationally while competing for the Estonian national team, Kerr has appeared in four tournament games so far, averaging 10.5 points and 6.3 assists per game.

All this competition and repetition should bode well for Kriisa with the 2022-23 season fast approaching. The hope is that with an extra year of development, Kerr could make a significant jump in 2022-23 and should be one of the Wildcats’ best players.

Either way, we’re excited to see what Kerr can do this upcoming season, and here’s just a little taste of what Wildcat fans can expect this season!
