Players from the Mali women’s national basketball team broke into a fight during a post-match interview at the Women’s World Cup in Australia.

The team had lost their fourth straight match at the tournament after an 81-68 loss to Serbia on Monday.

In a video which has since gone viral, the players were spotted battling in the mixed zone while a Serbian player had her post-match interview.

The shameful act caught the attention of basketball’s world governing body FIBA, which launched an investigation into the incident.

“Following the incident, Fiba has opened an investigation. Once the investigation is completed, Fiba will decide on the applicable disciplinary measures,” read a statement released by FIBA, quoted by the BBC.

Mali was expelled from the competition after losing all four league games.

Meanwhile, the two players involved in the fight, Salimatou Kourouma and Kamite Elisabeth Dabou have yet to react to the incident.
