Several local women’s basketball teams in the area will open the season on Saturday.
Nov. 3—Several women’s basketball teams in the region will kick off their new campaigns starting Saturday.
Jacksonville will entertain Marshall, starting with the junior varsity game at 11 a.m.
The Maidens have a brand new coach, who should be no stranger to Jacksonville fans. Former Maiden Sharae Schmitt is the team’s head coach this season, following Lynn Nabi’s departure earlier this fall.
The Jacksonville girls will return to the John Alexander Gymnasium on Tuesday to take on Lindale. The junior varsity teams will face off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity team.
Rusk also has a new head coach this season, as Alexys Hammett is the bench manager for the Lady Eagles.
The Rusk girls will kick off their campaign by visiting the center at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The doubleheader will consist of varsity junior and varsity matches.
The Bullard Lady Panthers travel to Winnsboro on Friday night, with the Lady Panthers home opener scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday against Hallsville.
Troup will kick off her new season on Tuesday by hosting Winona at Tiger Gym. Tipping is due at 5 p.m. (university only).
Brook Hill’s Lady Guard will play West Rusk on Saturday. Tipping in New London is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Jokeshua Fuller’s Alto Lady Jackets are another team that will play their first game on Tuesday. The Lady Jackets are expected to host Wells in a junior varsity twin bill that begins at 5 p.m. at Devonte Mumphrey Memorial Court at Yellowjacket Gymnasium. This will be the first official match at the new facility.
The New Summerfield Lady Hornets open their season at 5 p.m. Tuesday night traveling to Longview to test out the Christian Heritage Classical School.
